Gurugram:DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance (DPLI) continues its association with #HumVsDengue campaign (http://www.humvsdengue.org/) for the second consecutive year. The initiative is a fine example of Private Public Partnership and involves The Health Department-Gurugram, The District Administration, The Education Department, MCG, HUDA, The Corporate Sector, The Indian Red Cross Society, Hospitals, Academic Institutions and Citizens to keep Gurugram safe from the menace of dengue.
#HumVsDengue campaign is a mix of online as well as offline efforts to ensure maximum awareness about Dengue in the community. The of the campaign encourages different segments of the society to step forward to supplement the government’s efforts. Dengue prevention literature is available online as well as in forms of leaflets and posters for schools, societies as well as organizations. Schools, RWAs or companies can also request for a “DENGUE PREVENTION” workshop to increase awareness amongst its members. The campaign will bring forward the real time status of the DENGUE CASES in the city via an online report as well as the mapping forwarded by the Geographical inion System Department, Gurugram. The campaign will highlight the Dengue Awareness helpline number (0124-2222465) and the anti-Mosquito Fogging Helpline (1800-180-1817). It also enables volunteers to register for blood / blood platelet donation and urges the corporate sector and citizens to come forward and sponsor Dengue Protection Kit for underprivileged children.
Launched in 2016, over 6,493 children received the sponsored Dengue Treatment cover under this campaign. This year onwards, an awareness workshop and mosquito repellants too will be being given as part of the Dengue Protection Kit apart from the treatment cover. Over 480 blood donors’ details were shared with the government last year. The details of the volunteers were collected online as well as via the awareness workshops and awareness kiosks. Multiple workshops were conducted under this campaign by the hospital partner of the campaign - “Medanta Medicity” hospital. The campaign received immense support from local communities with numerous societies, schools and multiple companies stepping forward to support the cause.
Commenting on the occasion,Mr. Vinay Pratap Singh, Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram said,“Monsoon is here, it is imperative for people to protect themselves from the onslaught of this vector-borne disease. HumvsDengue is a joint effort and we need the support of the residents and corporates in this fight against dengue.”
Commenting on the public-private initiative,Dr. B.K. Rajora, Civil Surgeon, Gurugram said,“We are glad to continue our partnership with the community including the corporate sector in our fight against Dengue. It is a concentrated effort towards creating awareness and supporting the people suffering from dengue in Gurugram. We need cooperation from the public to prevent dengue in the district . The online and offline aspect of the campaign enables a good penetration of the inion. School student joining the campaign adds a lot of energy into the campaign. We are thankful to DHFL PRAMERICA for being a flag bearer of the campaign. In the second year, we have stepped up awareness and intervention activities across Gurugram, however, the disease can be prevented only with active participation of the people.”
Commenting on DPLI’s association, Mr. Anoop Pabby, Managing Director and CEO, DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance said, “Dengue has been declared as an endemic by the WHO in as many as 100 countries. South East Asia is one of the most seriously affected regions and more so our own country. According to the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), in 2016, about 1,11,8801 cases of dengue, leading to death of 227 people, were reported. As a company we strongly believe that a highly critical disease such as Dengue can only be fought collectively using a unified platform. Notably, last year, the Health Department, Gurugram recorded only 140 (53 outside state cases) confirmed cases2 of dengue. With the onset of monsoon, it is essential to spread the awareness too. We are proud to continue this association and lend support to the initiative #HumVsDengue to propagate Dengue prevention. DPLI along with Department of Health, Gurugram and Municipal Corporation of Gurugram urges the citizens and Corporates to step forward and be part of this community campaign to achieve a BEHTAR INDIA.”
